The three women of my life celebrating Abby’s first day
One of the proudest moments of my life was walking our daughter Anna down the aisle on her big day with her beau Carl. That was more than four years ago and a lot has happened since then, all for the good. Julie and I were in North Carolina back in May when Anna told us the big news that she and Carl were expecting a baby, the best news any parents can ever hear. Jump ahead, we’ve returned to Sydney for the big event and then the most magical moment of all time – the arrival of beautiful little Abby!
Papa Bear doing what you have to do when you’re a new grandfather
We’re grandparents! A gorgeous little healthy girl, a smiling, loving and healthy Mum and a beamingly proud father. It just doesn’t get any better than that. Julie and I immediately played the role of supportive grandparents, doing any task that makes life a bit easier for Mum, including the onerous task of holding little Abigail, or Abby as she’ll be called, for as long as possible between feeds. Someone’s got to do it!
The leadup to the big event started with a family gathering welcoming Julie and I back to Australia after being away for nine months and more importantly, to celebrate the upcoming arrival of Anna and Carl’s child.

The focus of our attention shifted to the hospital where Anna and the newly arrived Abby hung out for a few days, a steady stream of visitors to keep them busy.

The young family is now happily at home, Abby breaking in her new parents as babies usually do, all her grandparents on standby duties whenever they are needed. You can’t wipe the smile of Julie’s and my faces, nor the pride and love we have for Abby and her parents. There can be no greater thrill than to welcome a new member into the family and we’re loving every moment of this special time in the biggest possible way.

Abby is absolutely beautiful, and congratulations to all the family. I am sure she will have an endless supply of baby sitters fighting for the rights, and you will have to overdose on cuddles before you return to your travels.
A blessing for the family, and so wonderful that you are here to enjoy her.
Hi Anne, yes baby Abby is now the star of the show and we’re all fighting over a chance to hold her. She can pull a crowd and even a little smile can melt our hearts. Great stuff! Bill

Abby is so beautiful….and I will say as I scrolled down the page,and as the picture that you title your favorite picture appeared, I laughed out loud. Abby is very alert and engaged in life in general! Congratulations to all.
